Atmospheric contamination, or air contamination, occurs when chemical companies release fumes into the air, which drift to residential areas. Sources of air contamination can include gas stations, railroad yards, chemical plants, oil refineries and landfills.

Those affected by air contamination may develop cancer, learning disabilities, heart problems, stomach and liver conditions and neurological effects.
